Our Story:

2016 was a difficult year for my family.  My dad had passed away just 9 short months after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. It was one of the most difficult seasons of life for me. Shortly after my father’s death, an all-red dragonfly visited me. It landed on the antenna on my car. [shown in the picture above] Within a two-week period, the dragonfly visited me three times; it was breathtaking. I had never seen one before and I have yet to see one again. I believe God speaks through His amazing creation all the time, we just have to look for Him. 

After looking up information about dragonflies here are some things I found.  So many things that we can apply as life lessons.

The dragonfly symbolizes transformation, adaptability and authenticity.

• Transformation: The dragonfly goes through change 6-15 times during its life just as we are ever growing and changing.
• Adaptability: It changes so many times because it adapts to its surroundings. Each transformation makes it stronger so that it can manage its current situations. We also grow stronger with each experience we have.
• Authenticity: No 2 dragonflies are the same. They all have their own unique set of markings and color. We are also uniquely made with many gifts and talents that give us a unique purpose to do amazing things in this life.

Red dragonflies symbolize rejuvenation, courage, strength, and hope.

• Rejuvenation: It is believed that red dragonflies will visit you after a hard trial as a symbol that a renewing is coming. 
• Courage: Red dragonflies are also considered considered a symbol of courage. While my Dad was ill our family saying was "Be courageous" and we would quote Joshua 1:9 "Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid, for the Lord is with you wherever you go." 
• Strength: The Japanese culture believes that one will visit you after an emotional trial to help you overcome the obstacles that the trial caused and to remind you to stay strong. God promises that He is our strength. Some cultures believe you receive a visit as a confirmation that you are loved. God knows your trials, He makes you strong when you are weak, you are loved and you are never alone. 
• Hope: The red dragonfly will also guide you to clarity when a trial leaves you feeling confused. Native American's believe it symbolizes the freedom (or rest) for your spirit after death (or trial)  and going on to a better stage in life. A red dragon fly will visit you after a loss to remind you that there is HOPE to come.

From this, the mission for Unbelievable Grace Counseling & Therapy was born. The symbolism of the red dragonfly is the purpose of the logo, to remind you that you too have the strengths for transformation, adaptability, authenticity, and courage. The red dragonfly in our logo is meant to remind you that there is hope in your circumstances.
